ISLAMABAD – Foreign Office (FO) said Thursday in its statement that Pakistan and China were backing the peace process in Afghanistan because that was in the interest of the entire region.
FO during its weekly media briefing told that Maleeha Lodhi, Pakistan’s representative to United Nations, was on a routine visit to Pakistan.
Sources said that Maleeha Lodhi was in Pakistan to extend invitation to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to attend UN session which is to be held in September this year, adding that PM likely to attend the UN session in September.
UN was to celebrate its 70th anniversary in September this year.
The FO statement said about Zahid Hamid that Pakistan’s embassy could not confirm the punishment awarded to Zahid Hamid, adding that the FO had to wait for official confirmation.
Pakistan did not receive any information from British authorities over the BBC report, adding that Pakistan’s FO was in touch with UK authorities over the issue.
