Highlights: Ashes series, First Test, Day one – Australia vs England 2015

CARDIFF – Root’s great knock save English team from trouble and England team in charge against Australia on the opening day of first Test match of Ashes series, on Wednesday. 

English skipper opted to bat first after winning the toss. England team so far scored 326 runs on the first day of Test match. Australian bowlers gave brilliant start to their team and grabbed three wickets in no time.

Opener of England team, Lyth left the crease after scoring just six runs. Cook also lost his wicket after playing the inning of 20 runs. Experienced middle order batsman also failed to produce a good inning and left the crease after he scored just a run.

After three back to back wickets, young Root and Ballance put 153 runs together on board. Root played a great knock of 134 runs and Ballance scored 61 runs.

Fast bowler Starc took two wickets and off-spinner Lyon grabbed one wicket.
