SHANGHAI – Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif will attend a two-day Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in Ufa Russia, on Thursday.
Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif was arrived in Russian city UFA along with his wife Kulsoom Nawaz and senior delegation of diplomats.
On the invitation of Russian president Vladimir Putin, Nawaz Sharif along with Sartaj Aziz and Tariq Fatemi will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Summit.
Nawaz Sharif will also engage in bilateral talks with his Indian counterpart India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, at the sidelines of the ongoing Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Ufa, Russia.
Sources had earlier told that the two leaders would meet for about an hour on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit.
According to Indian media reports, The sit-down meeting, the first between the two South Asian leaders in more than a year, was initiated by New Delhi.
The last time the leaders met one-on-one was Modi’s first day in office in May 2014.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office said in weekly news brifing that both leaders would discuss the issues of mutual concerns during the meting.
Today’s confirmation of the meeting cam after Foreign office Spokesperson, Qazi Khalilulah said that there was always the possibility that the two leaders would meet.
