COLOMBO: After a historic Test series win, Pakistan team enters into a five- match One Day International series against the same opponent with a sky-high moral, the series commence from July 11.
The series may be a usual one from Sri Lankan point of view, but for Pakistan it is a do or die situation as the series lose will dash their dream of playing ICC Champion Trophy 2017 to the ground.
During the series, Pakistan is under double pressure as the guest team need to win the ODI series 3-2 to keep their hopes alive for Champions Trophy 2017.
Earlier, Pakistan’s series lost against Bangladesh slipped them to 9th spot in ICC ODI ranking, while Bangladesh’s 2-1 series win after 3-0 clean sweep to Pakistan earned them 7th place in ICC ODI ranking to qualify for the Trophy.
Though Pakistan has managed to turn its bilateral series against Zimbabwe into a tri-series with West Indies to help the cause, the threat still remains same unless it manages a series win against Sri Lanka.
