New squad, different format and a Big Mission – ‘Green Shirts’ ready take on Lankan Tigers

ISLAMABAD –  Young Pakistani captain Azhar Ali will lead the team against Sri Lanka in the first One Day International (ODI) five match ODI series on Saturday.

Pakistan team will play important ODI series without some experienced like Misbah ul Haq, Shahid Khan Afridi and Younis Khan. Young players were selected for the important ODI series.

Pakistan beat Sri Lanka in third Test match by achieving the sixth highest total in the history of Test cricket. Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by seven wickets and grabbed the series after nine years but in ODIs, story is too much different from Test matches.

In the previous ODI series, Bangladesh team white washed Pakistan team for the first time in the history. Pakistan team lost three back to back matches and shifted to ninth position in the ICC ODI rankings.

Azhar Ali got last chance to get ticket for ICC Champions Trophy 2017. Pakistan need to win the series by 4-1. Its no a easy task to achieve specially with inexperienced players.

Pakistan team was jolted with another bad news before this important series. Leading pacer of Pakistan team, Wahab Riaz dropped from the squad because of hand fracture. Although Mohammad Irfan replaces Wahab Riaz but he was in realy good perform and was producing great spells for Pakistan team.

Umar Akmal and Junaid Khan will also miss the series. Rahat Ali will join Mohammad Irfan in attack against the host team.
