ISIS leader in Afghanistan, Hafiz Saeed, killed in drone strike

KABUL – Senior leader of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), who had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State, killed by an American drone strike in Afghanistan on Saturday.

Hafiz Saeed belonged to Orakzai agency, killed in an American drone strike in Nangarhar Province, in eastern Afghanistan.

A spokesman for the Afghan intelligence agency, the National Directorate of Security, confirmed the death in a public statement.

According to details, Hafiz Saeed announced his allegiance to the Islamic State after the Pakistani military began an offensive last year in the North Waziristan tribal region.
