Srinagar hosts longest iftar dinner in Asia

Srinagar: Capital of Jammu Kashmir, Srinagar has hosted the Asia’s long iftar dinner at the bank of Dal Lake where 1.6 kilomtere long dinning cloth was spread to serve 3500 orphans.

The aftar dinner was arranged by Loud Beetle, a event organizing firm, in cooperation with groups of civil society and Jammu’s bussiness tycoons.

Earlier, Sharjah city in UAE had the record for arranging Asia’s longest Iftar over 1.3 kilometre long, but with spread of 1.6 kilometres Jammu

Kashmir’s party has surpassed that record of Sharjah.

In this unique Iftar at the bank of Dal Lake, people were served with delicacies of biryani, juice, dates and fruits and local dishes free of cost.

“Dispite of being Asia’s longest aftar dinner from here onward, our endevour was to show the real face of Islam, that is humanity and unity”. One of the organizer told.

“This really is a great idea to hold this unique record and being in Jammu Kashmir it is very important to tell people how peacful this nation is. Also this such a nice effort to give Iftar dinner to orphans”. A student expressed his views

Kashmir has a great legacy of arranging iftar for poor and orphans for centuries, but anc event like this, gives message to celebrate the iftar as a community to show unity and harmony.
