MULTAN: An explosion in Multan’s Vehari Chowk area has claimed six lives and injured many others on Sunday evening, TheNewsTribe.com reported.
According to TheNewsTribe’s (TNT) correspondent from southern Punjab, a blast rocked divisional headquarter Multan’s Vehari Chowk on Sunday evening.
A spokesperson of Nishtar Hospital Multan told the media that 35 injured people have been shifted to the government operated medical facility.
Multan Police Chief Azhar Akram confirmed the blast and said the bomb disposal squad investigating the incident to determine the blast type and other details.
Rescue services started the operation in the area soon after the blast.
Eye witnesses told the media that it was a cylinder blast which killed 7 people.
More than 13 people were shifted to Nishtar Hospital Multan, said rescue officials, while talking to the media persons.
Rescue sources also confirm that the blast reported in an auto rickshaw near Vhari Chowk area of the city.
A heavy contingent of police was deployed at the site, with investigation being underway.
