WASHINGTON: The meeting of Indian and Pakistani prime ministers is not in the cards even both will be in New York for UN General Assembly next week.
According to diplomatic sources, US officials, who are stressing on both India and Pakistan to resolve their disputes through negotiations have also not shown much of their will on the meeting of rival Prime Ministers.
US State Department spokesman John Kirby said on Tuesday regarding the question of biltaeral meeting of rivals that “These are issues for the two to resolve together, and that’s what we continue to encourage, a resumption of dialogue between the leaders of both India and Pakistan.”
Pakistan is likely to raise the Kashmir issue in the UN General Assembly more stronger than ever before because of the tensions and hype created by the Indian military on the borders.
It is to be kept in mind that India cancelled the bilateral NSA level talks with Pakistan over the Kashmir issue added by Pakistani delegate in their agenda last month in New Delhi, India.
It is very pertinent to mention that Indian Prime Minister Narindra Modi will not address the UN General Assembly and India’s Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj will answer the points that Pakistan will raise in the Assembly.
