Petition filed against PTI and PML-N candidates in NA-122

LAHORE: Ishtiaq Chaudhary, Candidate of Awami Tehreek, on Wednesday has challenged acceptance of the nomination papers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Abdul Aleem Khan and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz’s (PML-N) Sardar Ayaz Sadiq for NA-122 by-election in court.

According to details, Ishtiaq Chaudhry in his petition claimed that a case of land grabbing has been registered in police against the PTI’s Aleem Khan, while former speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq was fined by the election tribunal in its verdict which he was yet to pay.

He further petitioned that both candidates do not meet the requirements set under Article 62 and 63 of the constitution of Pakistan for a candidate of public office.

He further appealed to court to declare the decision of the Returning Officer as ineffective who has approved the nomination papers of both these candidates besides the objections.
