Tahir Ashrafi claims to be in Makkah for last four days

ISLAMABAD: Moulana Tahir Ashrafi, President of Pakistan Ulema Council had been accused of a certain deed namely getting caught with bottles of alcoholic drinks while driving in Islamabad.

Trends against the scholar were driven on Twitter as he was targeted for ‘preaching one thing but doing another’.

The Twitter trends were however, in the aftermath of the campaign which was run by a private news channel in Pakistan, a screenshot of which can be seen below.

The malicious campaign, that made breaking news for the better part of the day, alleged that the religious scholar had been caught with alcoholic drinks and some fabricated images were also circulated in social media.

Dunya News’ anchor Mujibur Rehman Shami tweeted to tell that Moulana Tahir Ashrafi was indeed in Saudi Arabia and not in some jail in Islamabad.
