DG ISPR Asim Bhajwa creates history

 

RAWALPINDI – Pakistan Army promoted the four Major Generals to the rank of Lieutenant General on Tuesday.

According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Director General Asim Bhajwa was also promoted to  Lieutenant General and became first DG ISPR with a rank of Lieutenant General.

Maj. Gen. Sadiq Ali, Maj. Gen. Umar Durrani, Maj. Gen. Aamir Riaz and Maj. Gen. Asim Bajwa have been promoted to the rank of Lt. General, ISPR mentioned in a tweet.

Bajwa was commissioned in the 34th Punjab Regiment in 1984, at the Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) in Kakul.

He graduated from the Command and Staff College in Quetta, as well as the National Defence University (NDU) in Islamabad, followed by the Staff College, Camberley.

 He holds masters degrees in war studies and defense studies from the NDU andKing’s College London respectively.

A member of the Bajwa clan, Asim Bajwa is married and has three children. His hobbies include reading and playing golf
