Eid al-Fitr 2016 on the same day in Pakistan, Saudi Arabia?

LAHORE: Probably for the first time in the history, there are chances that Eid al-Fitr 2016 might be celebrated on the same day in Saudi Arabia and Pakistan this year.

Meteorologists believe that there are fair chances that the Eid moon will be sighted in Pakistan on 5th July, which would increase the chances of Eid being celebrated on the same day in both countries.

Khalid Ejaz Mufti, the Ruet-e-Hilal Council Secretary General believes that the new moon will be visible to the naked eye under a number of special conditions: when the previous day’s sun has been set for at least 19 hours and the difference between the sun’s setting and the moon’s emergence is at least 40 minutes, reported Daily Pakistan.

According to meteorologists if Saudi Arabia celebrates Eid after observing 30 fasts and Pakistan does the after 29 fasts, then both countries will observe Eid on the same day.
