Imad Wasim flies off to play CPL

KARACHI: Pakistan’s emerging all-rounder Imad Wasim has left to play Caribbean Premier League (CPL). It will be his first appearance in any foreign league.

IMad will represent Jamaica Tallawahs, which also has superstars like West Indies duo Chris Gayle and Andres Russell and Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara.

Besides Imad, middle-order batsman Umar Akmal will be playing for Trinbago Knight Riders, Shoaib Malik will turn out for Barbados Tridents, while Sohail Tanvir will represent Guyana Amazon Warriors.

Imad has said that he is looking forward to the challenges of the CPL.

The Express Tribune quotes Imad as saying, “It’s my first journey to the Caribbean so it would be a good learning curve for me and I’m looking forward to the challenge,” said Imad, according to the CPL. “As a cricketer, you always need different challenges to grow and progress, and this is what I want. I’m working hard to keep proving my credentials.”

Imad has played six ODIs and 11 T20Is for Pakistan and has emerged as a steady performer in the limited-overs formats.
