ISLAMABAD: After successfully beginning Ramadan 2016 on one day throughout the country, the ministry of Religious Affairs has began attempts to observe Eid al-Fitr 2016 on same day across Pakistan.
To make this happen, the Federal Ministry of Religious Affairs has decided that meetings of central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee and Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai’s unofficial committee will be held on the same day in Peshawar for sighting of Shawwal moon.
Samaa news reported that Federal Minister of Religious Affairs Sardar Yousaf and Popalzai have left for Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah where they will discuss the moon-sighting controversy.
The minister has addressed Shahabuddin Popalzai’s concerns about the official Ruet-e-Hilal Committee in recent meetings at Pakistan, sources said.
The minister has also directed provincial government of KP to play role in developing consensus on observance of one Eid in the country.
