KARACHI: Chairman Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Mufti Munib ur Rehman has stated that moon sighting committee in Pakistan will meet on Tuesday, July 5.
The central committee meeting will be held in Pakistan’s largest city Karachi along-with Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta for the Shawwal moon sighting.
Members of the central and Karachi Ruet-e-Hilal committees, officials of the Met Department and Space, and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) experts will also be present on the occasion.
Services from Pakistan Meteorological Department will also taken for making final decision of Shawwal moon sighting.
The Director General of the Pakistan Meteorological Department has already announced that Eid al-Fitr 2016 in Pakistan is likely to fall on July 6.
Speaking to Media, DG Met Dr Ghulam Rasool said that the moon is expected to appear on 29th of Ramadan for forty (40) minutes. The moon will be first sighted at Balochistan’s coastal areas including Pasni and Jiwani and in Sindh’s plan areas of Hyderabad.
