LAHORE: Former Pakistan T20 captain and star batsman Shahid Khan Afridi has once again proven he is as witty out of the field as he is dangerous with the bat in field.
Afridi, during an exhibition match was asked about his fitness by a journalist. To which star cricketer responded mischievously, “I can still handle 10 guys like you alone.”
In response to another question regarding his comeback in international team, Afridi said, he would return to the national side on the basis if his performance in domestic and county cricket.
“I am currently focusing on performing in domestic and county cricket,” he said. “However, when I feel I cannot play anymore, I will retire on my own terms rather than allowing anyone to throw me out.”
Afridi raised voice in favour of ODI captain Azhar Ali and stated that he should be given more chances to prove his worth. He also maintained that media should not put extra burden on the skipper who failed to produce results during England ODI series.
“Azhar was not able to deliver in the series against England but media should also refrain from heaping further pressure on him,” said Afridi.
“Sarfraz [Ahmed] did exceptionally well as a captain in the one-off T20I against England but he should be given time to prove himself an asset in the long run. He was aggressive in his captaincy and we need that.”
Boom Boom further asserted that our media makes a cricketer hero on one performance and so they pull down his leg on one bad game or a series. “This should not be done”
