DUBAI: After a crushing, 9-wicket victory over World Champion West Indies, Pakistan would go for ‘two in a row’ when they meet the Caribbean side in the second T20 of the three-match series at Dubai International Stadium, Dubai.
It was all Imad Wasim show in the first game. The way he uprooted Windies’ bating line to become Pakistan’s first ever spinner and second overall bowler to take fiver in the T20Is, was an incredible sight.
West Indies had no clue against the left-arm spinner. He kept altering from good length to short and West Indian players kept losing wickets. Imad ended 5-14 in his four, leaving West Indies 46/7.
Nawaz, Hasan Ali and Sohail Tanveer did the rest to fold Windies innings on 115.
Experienced campaigner DJ Bravo along with tail-end partner Jerome Taylor, built a worthy 66-runs partnership for the ninth wicket, which was a record.
In response, Sharjil Khan started the proceedings in his own way, but left his partner Khalid Latif on 22 after hitting 3 four and a thunderous six.
It was the only wicket West Indies could manage, as Pakistan cruised down the target in just 14.2 over with 9 wickets in hand.
West Indies, as great Wasim Akram puts it, ‘are the most dangerous site of the world for this formate, and they would bang harder in next game.’
That is what expected from Carlos Brathwaite’s men and that is what they are capable of doing.
It would be quite interesting with what approach they enter the field today (Saturday) for the second consecutive game on the same venue.
