PESHAWAR: Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar are expected to perform the groundbreaking ceremony of Mohmand Dam today.
The PM and the CJP are expected to attend the inauguration ceremony of the Mohmand Dam as chief guests.
The dam will help resolve the problems of water scarcity and electricity shortfall in the country. The dam will be constructed at a total cost of Rs309 billion.
The previous PML-N government had allocated Rs2bn for the project in the Public Sector Development Programme 2018-19.
Although the ceremony was earlier scheduled to be held on January 2, it was rescheduled. Controversy also emerged following the award of the contract to a company owned by Prime Minister Advisor on Commerce Abdul Razzak Dawood.
