British Airways team to visit Islamabad Airport next week

ISLAMABAD: A team of British Airways is scheduled to visit New Islamabad International Airport next week to review security and other arrangements.

The UK flag carrier is going to resume its operation in Pakistan after a gap of 10 years.

A four-member team of British Airways (BA) will arrive here next week to review arrangements for the resumption of its flight operation.

The team includes directors of transport, marketing and security of the airline. The team will visit Islamabad Airport Islamabad to check if all their requirements have been addressed at the airport.

Security is a major issue for the British authorities and the visiting team will be given a briefing about security arrangements to ally their concerns.

BA had in Sept 2008 suspended all its flights to Pakistan citing security concerns in the aftermath of the Marriot Hotel bombing.

In Dec 2018, the airline had announced that it will be resuming its flight from Heathrow to Islamabad from June 2, 2019.

It has expressed satisfaction regarding the improvement in the security situation in Pakistan in recent years.
