PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is planning to establish donkey farms in DI Khan and Mansehra districts of the province.
The plan is part of the provincial Live Socks Department’s donkeys export programme.
As per details, the department will establish the farms with foreign assistance. The programme will be a joint venture of KP and the Chinese governments.
Sources in the Live Stocks department said that agreements for establishing the farms will be signed with the Chinese government and other companies.
The officials said that the department was expecting a breakthrough in its donkey export plan this year. The department will be exporting ailing, weak and paralyzed donkeys in the first phase.
The department plans to export 80,000 donkeys in the first three years.
The officials said that Chinese companies are interested in donkey farming. Foreign companies are ready to invest $3 billion in donkey farming, they added.
