Pepsi to invest $1 billion in Pakistan

DUBAI: Senior Vice President of PepsiCo Inc Krista Pilot has said that PepsiCo is going to invest $1 billion in Pakistan.

During a meeting with Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry in Dubai that the senior official of the beverage company said that PepsiCo was interested to invest in the food sector (snacks) in Pakistan.

She added that under the fresh investment plan, a potato unit will be installed in Multan.

On the occasion, Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry welcomed the decision of PepsiCo Inc. to make fresh investment in Pakistan.

Pilot expressed the desire that Prime Minister Imran Khan should inaugurate the new unit. She said that the installation of the plant would benefit potato farmers

The minister observed that interest of international companies including British Airways, PepsiCo and other in investment in Pakistan was a reflection of the growing trust of the world in the country.

The minister said the government wanted a collaboration with PepsiCo in promoting Pakistan’s diverse culture, music and tourism.

He said Pakistan was a great destination for breathtaking valleys and colourful cultures, and the government would promote the real face of Pakistan in the whole world.

Chaudhry added that foreign investment would also increase employment opportunities in the country.
