Retired prison officer brutally beaten in Ellenbrook

PERTH (Australia): A retired prison officer was brutally bashed in Ellenbrook this morning while bringing in his neighbour’s bins.

Mike Willison, 68, was rushed to a hospital after the assault on Redstone Trail. His condition is stated to be serious but stable.

His former partner Margaret said the attack was completely unprovoked. “It was horrific. You know I just couldn’t begin to describe how bad it was,” she said.

“His right ear was just a bloody mess.”

Mrs Willison said when she arrived on the scene, her former partner was so badly hurt he could hardly talk.

His injuries were so severe, she was worried he might have suffered brain damage.

“I was just shocked that one human being could do that to another,” she said.

Forensic officers spent the afternoon scouring two crime scenes — the second one just around the corner from where Mr Willison was set upon.

Police have a man in his 20s in custody and would like to speak with anyone who was in the area between 10am and 10.50am.

Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report online.
