DHAKA, Bangladesh: Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hassan has said that some players could skip the upcoming tour of India, citing Captain Shakib Al Hasan’s name specifically.
Mohammad Saifuddin has already been ruled out owing to a back injury while Tamim Iqbal signed out to be with his expecting wife.
“I am quite sure that they [the players] won’t go, and they will only inform us when we have nothing to do about it,” Hassan said in an interview.
“I don’t know. I have called Shakib today. Let’s see what he says. It might be others too. I don’t know. But I had information that they won’t go,” he added.
The team is scheduled to leave on Wednesday.
After leading the strike and its resolution, Hasan did not turn up for the national team training sessions on two out of three days so far.
Coach Russell Domingo said Hasan was left out of the Sunday’s practice match as he wanted to look at other players.
However, the captain’s name was on the list of players expected to perform in the match.
